SOURCES OF LIGHT
NATURAL: Natural light sources can come from an object or a living species. From sources that are natural.
examples:
SUN
MOON
STAR
JELLYFISH
LIGHTNING
BUSH FIRES
FIREFLY
GLOWWORM
ANGLER FISH
DEEP SEA PLANTS
MICROORGANISMS CAN BE CITED
ARTIFICIAL: is emitted by man-made devices that would not occur naturally in nature. Includes things like flash/strobes, of course, but also any street lights, indoor lighting, or other man-made light sources.
INCANDESCENT SOURCES- When certain objects are heated to a high temperature, they begin to emit light. Both infrared and visible light is produced in the process.
LUMINESCENT SOURCES- Light can be produced by accelerating charges in a luminescent material. One common way of doing it is by passing current through the material.
GAS DISCHARGE SOURCE- Passing electricity through certain gases at very low pressure can produce light too.
examples:
INCANDESCENT SOURCES: CANDLES, INCANDESCENT LAMP
LUMINESCENT SOURCES: FLUORESCENT TUBE LIGHT, ELECTRIC BULB
GAS DISCHARGE SOURCES: NEON LAMP, SODIUM LAMP
